Nine from the Empire 8 Garner 2019 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-North Atlantic Region Honors

Nine student-athletes from the Empire 8 were named to the 2019 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-North Atlantic Region teams on Tuesday, December 3. All nine student-athletes are eligible for All-America honors, which will be announced on Wednesday, December 11.
 
Senior Lindsay Scott and junior Bre Socker of St. John Fisher College, along with junior Brooke Singer and freshman Sydney Gagnon of Hartwick College were first team selections. Senior Jennifer Hilts of Nazareth College, seniors Ricki Haab and Josie Sgarlata of Utica College, senior Reghan Amoroso of St. John Fisher and junior Allyson Osborne of Hartwick garnered second team accolades. Eight of the nine student-athletes honored were also 2019 All-Empire 8 first team selections.
 
Scott was named the 2019 Empire 8 Player of the Year last month. This is her second All-Region honor, having previously garnered second team accolades in 2017. A native of Webster, N.Y., Scott enjoyed an incredible season for the Cardinals in 2019, setting an E8 single-season record with 19 assists to go along with nine goals for 37 points. On Oct. 18, Scott set the Empire 8 single-game record with seven assists. She finished the season second nationally with 0.95 assists per game.
 
Socker makes her third appearance on the All-Region squad in three seasons, having earned second team honors in 2017 and first team accolades last year. A native of Liverpool, N.Y., Socker set new program records with 28 goals and 62 points to lead the league in both categories in 2019. The junior had eight multi-goal games this season, including four tallies in wins over Houghton on Oct. 14 and four days later at Sage. Socker finished the 2019 season second among all Division III players with 1.40 goals per game and fourth with 3.10 points per contest.
 
Singer was crucial to both the Hawks' offensive and defensive efforts throughout their 2019 Empire 8 Championship-winning season. She tied for second on the team in points (20) as a midfielder, via a career-high nine goals and two assists. A native of Johnson City, N.Y., Singer was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2019 Empire 8 Tournament.
 
Gagnon led Hartwick to its first Empire 8 Championship since the tournament format was introduced in 2017 on her way to earning Rookie of the Year honors. She led her team in scoring with and was fourth in the league with 14 goals and fifth with 34 points in 20 games this season. A native of Chestertown, N.Y., Gagnon also tallied an Empire 8 best six game-winning goals.
 
Haab, a stalwart defender, played in an started all 19 matches for Utica, recording four goals and four assists while logging 1,097 minutes on the field to rank second among Pioneers field players this season. A native of Stowe, Vt., Haab was the primary push player on Utica's penalty corner battery this season.

Sgarlata, a senior midfielder, recorded three goals and three assists for a career-high nine points this season while covering the length of the field. A native of Canastota, N.Y., Sgarlata was also primarily employed as one of Utica's main hitters on the penalty corner unit. She had two game-winning goals to lead the team in 2019.
 
Amoroso led the Cardinals defense in 2019. A native of Pittsford, N.Y., Amoroso was fourth on the team in goals (7) and points (16). A two-time All-Empire 8 selection, the defender was also selected to the Conference's All-Tournament Team in 2019.
 
Osborne was second in the Empire 8 with an .833 save percentage as well as a 1.37 goals against average to go along with 13 wins for the 2019 league champion Hawks. A native of Nottingham, Pa., Osborne made 15 or more saves three times this season, including a career-high 21 in the NCAA First Round at Franklin & Marshall, and was named the NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week on September 25 after back-to-back shutouts.
