Five-Time Winner Dello Russo Headlines Empire 8 Indoor Track & Field All-Conference Selections
Stevens Leads Way Following Sweep at E8 Indoor Championships
The Empire 8 Athletic Conference announced the 2018-19 Indoor Track and Field All-Conference selections. Stevens, which won titles in both men's and women's action over the weekend, led the way with 16 student-athletes honored.
To be named an E8 All-Conference selection, a student athlete must have finished in the top two of an event at the Conference's Championship Meet. Winners of the event are named to the First Team, while the Second Team is comprised of the runner-up from each event. For the full list of E8 All-Conference selections, please see below. Stevens'
Gina Dello Russo, who was named the Women's Track Athlete of this year's Championship Meet, won five individual events to earn All-Conference laurels in each event. Dello Russo took home the individual title in the 60-meter, the 200-meter, the 400-meter, as well as both the High Jump and the Pole Vault.
She was one of seven student-athletes to post more than one win during this year's championship meet. Also winning multiple events in women's action were Dello Russo's teammates
Mary Visca and
Katie Weeks, as well as Nazareth's
Alycia Eaton. On the men's side, St. John Fisher's
Eddie Mahana, Stevens'
Alex Kainer, and Utica's
Mitch Marlow each won multiple events.
