Five Empire 8 Swimmers and Divers to Compete at Upcoming NCAA National Championships

Nazareth, Stevens to be Represented at Nationals
Nazareth's Seth Farrand and Taylor Robey, and Stevens' Tyler Zanki were among the student-athletes that qualified to compete at the the 2019 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships as the NCAA released this year's championship qualifiers last night. Alfred's Chris Deaver and Nazareth's Allie Norwood also qualified and will be competing in the Diving portion of th is year's events.
Zanki and Norwood both qualified and will be competing in two events when the championship meet gets underway in just under a month.
CLOSER LOOK
Zanki qualified in both the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke events. His seed time of 55.17 in the 100-meter breast is ninth-best heading into the championships, while his 2:00.43 in the 200 breast is seventh-best. Farrand posted a 20.33 in the 50-meter freestyle, which is good for the 11th-seed. Robey's time of 50.71 is the seventh-fastest time in the 100-meter freestyle.
Norwood will compete in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events. She won both diving events at the E8 Championship meet and finished fifth and sixth respectively in the 1- and 3-meter diving competitions at the NCAA Regional Qualifier.
The championships will be held March 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the Greensboro Aquatic Center will serve as co-hosts. A total of 579 participants (526 swimmers and 53 divers) will compete in the championships.
