Binder's Complete-Game Shutout Earns Him National Honor

Ithaca's Jake Binder, who earlier this week was honored as the Empire 8 Conference's Pitcher of the Week, added another honor today as the senior right-hander was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher of the Week.

CLOSER LOOK
Binder carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning during the Bombers' 2-0 victory over No. 18 California Lutheran on Sunday afternoon at Thousand Oaks, California. Binder was perfect through seven innings before issuing a walk, while his lone hit came with one out in the ninth. He recorded five strikeouts in the game and needed just 100 pitches to complete the nine inning effort. A first-team All-Conference selection, Binder was making his first appearance of the 2019 season in the win.

St. John Fisher's Allen Fisher was also recognized as he was named Honorable Mention Hitter of the Week. Fisher was honored as the E8 Player of the Week.

This week's honorees were selected based on performances spanning March 4-10.
