Alfred's Historic Season Comes to a Close in Second Round of NCAA Tournament
LeMorta Outstanding Once Again, Surpasses 1,000 Career Points in Defeat
Alfred's historic season came to a close tonight in Newport News, Virginia as the Saxons fell to Christopher Newport by a score of 88-53 during the Second Round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The Captains won their 11th straight game and will now face Hamilton next Friday in the NCAA Tournament sectional round of 16.

Alfred was once again led by Dom LeMorta, who finished with 28 points and surpassed the 1,000 point for his career in the loss. The Empire 8 Conference Champion Saxons finish the season 24-5, having reached the Second Round for just the second time in program history. Scotty Stopera added 12 for Alfred.
CNU's Marcus Carter poured in 26 points to lead the Captains to victory, while Adrian Beasley scored 16 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in the contest. Jason Aigner also dropped in 17 points in the victory. CNU hit 16 three-pointers on Saturday night and started the contest 11-of-14 from long range to give the Captains an early 39-12 lead to set the tone for the remainder of the night.
