Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship Set for This Weekend

The Empire 8 Conference's men's golf teams will participate in the 2019 E8 Conference Championship this weekend (April 13-14) at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Elmira, Nazareth, Oswego, Potsdam, Sage, St. John Fisher, Stevens, and Utica will compete for a title over the two-day event. Fisher has won eight straight conference titles heading into this weekend's tournament.
CLOSER LOOK
The E8 champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Golf Championship. The top five scorers at the end of the tournament will earn first-team all-conference honors with the next five finishers being named to the second team.
STANDINGS: Oswego holds the lead following the first two rounds of action. Heading into this weekend, the Lakers lead Fisher by one stroke. Oswego shot 597 as a team, while the Cardinals posted a 598.
THE COURSE: The Hershey Country Club was founded by iconic chocolate entrepreneur Milton S. Hershey in 1930. The club has grown since its founding, as the private club now features three separate pristine 18-hole courses. The E8 Championship will feature the club's East Course, which opened in 1969 and lays claim to over 100 bunkers scattered throughout the rolling fairways. The club and its expansive views have welcomed some of the sport's all-time greats, including Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.
