Houghton Runs the Table in E8 Regular Season, Earns Top Seed for Upcoming Men's Tennis Championship
CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
Houghton finished their Empire 8 Conference schedule with a perfect 7-0 mark, and has earned the top seed in the upcoming E8 Men's Tennis Championship. The 2019 E8 Men's Tennis Championship will take place next Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 and will be hosted by St. John Fisher College. The matches will take place at Mendon Racquet & Pool Club in Pittsford, N.Y.
CLOSER LOOK
Top-seeded Houghton finished the regular season with a record of 10-4 overall, including their perfect 7-0 mark in E8 play. The Highlanders have won seven straight and nine of their last ten matches overall. They'll take on Alfred in one semifinal match Friday.
Stevens earned the No. 2 seed in this year's Men's Tennis Championship. The Ducks will take on Fisher in another semifinal match Friday. The winners of both matches will play for the Conference Championship Saturday.
The winner of this weekend's tournament will earn the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament and advance to the 2019 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament.
