Top Seeds Stevens, St. John Fisher Advance to E8 Men's Lacrosse Championship Game

Cardinals Roll, Ducks Overcome Early Deficit to Advance to E8 Championship Game

Stevens and St. John Fisher, the top two seeds into the 2019 Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse Championship, posted wins Wednesday evening and will meet in Saturday's title game. The Championship will be hosted by Stevens Saturday afternoon, and is scheduled for a 12pm start.

#1 Stevens 17, #4 Nazareth 12 
Top-seeded Stevens overcame an early 5-1 deficit to advance to Saturday's E8 Championship Game with a 17-12 win over fourth-seeded Nazareth. The Ducks now advance in the E8 Championship and will host Saturday's title game again St. John Fisher.

Nico Ipeker led the way for Stevens with six goals, as the Ducks would use an eight-goal second quarter to propel them to the win. Brendan Monteleone added five goals and a pair of assists in the win. Stevens outscored Nazareth 8-4 in the second half en route to the win.

Nazareth's Jeremy Jacob led the offensive attack for Nazareth with four goals and two assists.

#2 St. John Fisher 22, #3 Hartwick 8
St. John Fisher will be making its way down to Hoboken N.J. on Saturday to play for an E8 Championship as the Cardinals took down Hartwick 22-8 in the Semifinal round at Growney Stadium on Wednesday evening. With the victory, Fisher improves to 15-2 overall on the season, while the Hawks finish their 2019 season 11-4 overall.

Nicholas Miller and Joe Post each re-wrote the E8 record book during the win as the Cardinals continue their record-setting season. Miller led the way with a season-high six goals as the sophomore broke the all-time E8 record for goals in a single season with his total of 71 in the win. Post, broke the E8 single-game records for most faceoff wins and most ground balls grabbed, as the he finished a perfect 28-28 inside the faceoff circle, while grabbing a career-high 27 ground balls.

Seven different Cardinals tallied multi-point games in the victory with Miller leading the way with eight points, while senior Zach Wagner added six of his own. ?Six different players scored at least one goal for Hartwick in the loss. 

Darin Eakins won his 12th game of the season between the pipes for Fisher as the junior finished with seven saves in just over 52 minutes of action.
