Nine Student-Athletes from Empire 8 Tabbed All-Region by NFCA
E8 Champion St. John Fisher Leads Way with Four Student-Athletes Recognized
Nine Empire 8 Conference student-athletes were named All-Region selections recently by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Among those recognized were St. John Fisher's
Ashley Prince and
Sammie Torlish (pictured), who were recognized as First Team selections. To see all those that were honored, please see below.

E8 Champion Fisher led the way with four student-athletes recognized. In addition to Prince and Torlish, also honored were
Sarah Kubik and
Emily Trotman. Nazareth and Stevens each had two student-athletes tabbed. Naz second basemen
Marissa Tortora was a Second Team selection, while
Sarah Simmons was a Third Team honoree.
The Ducks were represented by
Marissa Capello, who
earned Second Team laurels and
Samantha Schattin who was a Third Team selection. Capello earned E8 Pitcher of the Year, while Schattin was named the conference's Player of the Year this spring. Also recognized by the NFCA was Alfred's
Jessica Wilcox, who earned third team honors.
In total, 364 players were chosen for the 2019 NCAA Division III All-Region softball teams. The squad is comprised of three 15-player teams — plus voting ties — in each of the country’s eight NCAA regions.
