Trio of E8 Student-Athletes Earn Prestigious National Academic Honor

Christine LaRochelle were recognized as First Team Academic All-Americans, while Utica's
Tim Quinlan earned Third Team honors.
The award recognizes student-athletes that excelled on the highest level in both the classroom and the playing field.

Allen Murphy - 1st Team Academic All-American
Murphy is one of only nine student-athletes from across Division III baseball to carry a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average to be recognized. He's the 24th Academic All-American selection in school history and is the sixth player from the baseball program to be named to an Academic All-America Team. The junior is the College's second honoree this year after
Tony Silvanic from the Fisher football program was honored in the fall.
Murphy, who was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year and was a First-Team All-Conference selection this season, scored 47 runs on the year, drove in 42 and led the E8 in total bases (113), slugging percentage (.665) and OPS (1.145). The 4.0 student-athlete is majoring in Biology. He was also recognized as an All-American by multiple publications for his performance on the field this season in helping lead Fisher to the E8 Championship.
Christine LaRochelle - 1st Team Academic All-American
LaRochelle recently graduated from Stevens with a 4.0 GPA and earned both a bachelor's degree in Engineering Management and a master's degree in Systems Engineering. She also earned master's certificates in systems engineering, data exploration and visualization for risk and decision making.
On the field, LaRochelle ended her final season in a Ducks' uniform with 71 strikeouts over 120 innings pitched and an ERA of 2.74. She ranks second in program history in both innings pitched (401.6) and ERA (2.75), and is third in Stevens history with 224 career strikeouts.
Tim Quinlan - 3rd Team Academic All-American
Quinlan recently finished his career having played in 128 career games for Utica. He set new program records for hits (176), RBI's (125) and doubles (47) during his time on campus. He scored 95 career runs (second all-time) and added 14 home runs (third). He capped his career with a .369 batting average. Quinlan was a four-time E8 All-Conference selection and a 2018 D3baseball.com All-Region pick as well.
Off the field, he carried a 3.93 GPA in the classroom, majoring in both Health Studies and Physical Therapy.
