Both the St. John Fisher lacrosse programs are nationally ranked in their respective 2020 Division III preseason polls. The women are ranked No. 11 in the preseason Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, while the men are ranked No. 14 in the preseason United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Warrior and New Balance poll, No. 15 in the Nike/US Lacrosse preseason poll and No. 17 in the Faceoff Magazine Yearbook poll.
St. John Fisher’s women’s program is looking for its ninth straight Empire 8 title in 2020. The Cardinals are coming off a tremendous 2019 season in which they finished 19-2 and advanced to the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals set single-season program records with a 17-game winning streak, 19 total wins and led all of Division III in scoring defense, allowing just 4.81 goals per game. The Cardinals had six student-athletes earn IWLCA All-Region honors, including four underclassmen. St. John Fisher has a 127-34 record since the start of the 2012 season. Overall, St. John Fisher has won 10 Empire 8 titles.
The men of St. John Fisher are coming off its finest season in program history, setting a program record for victories in a season with 17, while winning its first Empire 8 Championship and advancing to the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals were among the top-10 nationally in several categories, including scoring offense (17.30 goals per game) and scoring margin (9.50 goals per game). St. John Fisher returns nearly its entire starting lineup from last season, including 2020 Inside Lacrosse Division III Preseason All-Americans, juniors Nicholas Miller, Jack Mulvihill and Joe Post.
