What Type of Community Service Have You Done: I have volunteered at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center in Elmira within the outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation units. Also, with Elmira College baseball we have volunteered for the Wineglass marathon, hosted various youth camps, visited elementary schools, and assisted in the production of the College’s own Craft Fair. At home, my family and I have coordinated various clothing and backpack drives for those in need of school supplies and clothing.

Plans After Graduation: Next year, I will be studying to receive my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Chatham University.

What Do You See Yourself Doing in 5 Years: After receiving my doctorate, my plan is to work as a Physical Therapist in an out-patient clinic with the focus in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

What is Your Ultimate Professional Goal: It is my professional goal to eventually be the owner of my personal private-practice physical therapy clinic. I want to improve everyone’s quality of life through proper and safe rehabilitation techniques so they can return to their life in an improved physical state.

Any Interesting or Exciting Internships You Have Done or Are Currently Working On: I completed an internship at Elite Therapy located in Horseheads, N.Y. (January-May, 2019). Elite Therapy gave me insight on the essential skills that are necessary to become a successful physical therapist. Upon completion of this internship, I was offered a position at Elite Therapy to be a physical therapist technician. I worked there full-time in the summer of 2019, and am currently working part-time while I continue to complete my studies.

How Has Competing in the Empire 8 Prepared You For Life After College: The Empire 8 has such an immense focus on academic success all while playing a rigorous athletic schedule. This has taught me essential time management and organizational skills. I know that these skills will continue to be used after graduation as I enter the professional world.

Favorite Athletic Memory from Your Time in College: When we beat Utica in an essential elimination game during my freshman season to clinch the third seed in the conference and advance to the Empire 8 Tournament.

Biggest On-Campus Mentor: Coach Corey Paluga. He has taught me the ability to battle through adversity, organize my time, and act as a leader.

What Have You Learned About Yourself from Freshman to Senior Year: I have learned that generating a positive and optimistic mentality is crucial for success. It is so easy to be taken back and become side-tracked due to minor failures. I learned that in order to improve in a task it is crucial to not let failures ruin your mentality. Rather, use them as a learning experience and something to build off of in the future.

What Type of Leader Are You: I am not the type of leader who will fire a team up through a speech or words. Rather, I use my work ethic and actions on and off the field to speak for itself and motivate others.

One Thing Most People Do Not Know About You: One thing that most people do not know about me is that each summer, my dad and I complete a 54-hour drive across the country to return to Elmira College.

Advice for Freshmen Teammates or Student-Athletes: Every moment is precious. The time as a collegiate athlete flies by and I believe it is easy to become too focused on future tasks rather than facing the present challenges. Focus on improving every day, whether it’s in athletics or in the classroom. By having a strong work ethic and using it to get better every day, it will increase your preparation which will make facing challenges that much easier.
