St. John Fisher's Emily Trotman Named NFCA National Player of the Week

Junior Emily Trotman of the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball team was named the Division III Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Player of the Week on Wednesday after helping lead the No. 20 Cardinals to a 7-3 mark last week in Tucson, AZ

Trotman put together an incredible all-around week, posting a .457 average at the plate while going 4-2 with a 2.46 earned run average in the circle.

At the dish, Trotman, who was named the Empire 8 Player of the Week on Monday, was 16-for-35 over 10 games as the East Amherst native collected two doubles, a triple, two home runs, six RBI and scored 13 runs. Her .743 slugging and .525 on-base percentages currently leads the team while her five walks are tied for the most of anyone on the Cardinals' roster.

Trotman finished the week with five multi-hit games including a 3-for-6 performance against Emerson College where she belted a home run and drove in two runs to help her own cause. Against No. 14 St. Thomas (Minn.), Trotman went 3-for-4 and collected two more RBI as the Cardinals handed the Tommies a 7-4 defeat.

In the circle, Trotman was even better after holding opposing hitters to a .278 average over 42.2 innings of work. Trotman finished the week with three complete games, 32 strikeouts and collected one save overall. Her top performance of the week came against No. 4 East Texas Baptist where she threw 7.2 innings and allowed one unearned run with six strikeouts to her credit.
