The Empire 8 announced that 89 student-athletes from its eight member institutions were named to the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. In addition, eight seniors earned Academic Squad honors for the fourth consecutive season.
Overall, 1,943 student-athletes from 157 Division III institutions earned recognition on the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Both 2019 Empire 8 Champion Hartwick and 2019 Regular Season Champion St. John Fisher led the way with 15 honorees apiece. Utica was right behind with 13.
The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-2020 academic year.
