The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2019-20 Women’s Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team on Tuesday, March 3. St. John Fisher sophomore guard Miranda Lynch earned Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Cardinals to their fifth league title over the weekend. Lynch averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, while shooting 55 percent from the floor in the tournament. She scored 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including three made 3-pointers and five assists in Fisher’s 74-53 win over Sage in the Empire 8 Championship game on Saturday. Fellow St. John Fisher standout Amy Gardner, who poured in 27 points in the championship game over Sage, joined Lynch on the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Senior guard Nicolette Conkin of Utica, the 2020 Empire 8 Player and Defensive Player of the Year, scored a career-high 37 points, just five off the league’s single-game mark in the semifinals versus Sage on Friday to garner All-Tournament Team accolades. Fellow All-Tournament Team selection Megan Flynn of Sage scored 28 points and grabbed 17 boards in that same game, an 82-75 win for the Gators. Sophomore guard Maggie Kirby of Hartwick was also named to the All-Tournament Team after leading the Hawks with 15 points in the E8 Semifinal versus St. John Fisher.
