The Utica College Women's Track and Field team wrapped up the second and final day of competition at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships on Saturday. The UC women piled up 20 points in the team competition to place eleventh.
The UC effort was again headed by rookie sensation Eshone Cofield-Jackson. Cofield-Jackson claimed the 200 meter title with a blazing fast facility record time of 25.35 seconds. That time is a new personal best, and ranks twelfth nationally, which assures her a call to the national championships when the field is announced. She also finished on the podium after yesterday's school record time at 60 meters, as she ran to a 7th place finish at 7.97 seconds.
Elsewhere, the Pioneers' lone competing jumper produced a quality effort on Saturday. School record holder Kelsey Wands was fourth in the women's long jump at a leap of 5.41 meters. In the women's weight throw, Katrina Cornick was twelfth at 14.75 meters, and Brealle Brown was 34th with a mark of 12.57 meters.
The Pioneers will have their season extended by another week as Eshone Cofield-Jackson attends the NCAA championships next weekend in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
