St. John Fisher men's volleyball standouts Josh Bigford and David Cerqua were named All-Americans, as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its national selections for the 2020 season on Monday, April 20. Bigford, who was previously named 2020 NVA/AVCA North Region Player of the Year, UVC Co-Player of the Year and Empire 8 Player of the Year, helped lead the Cardinals to their best start in program history at 15-4 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Cardinals were ranked as high as No. 7 in the NVA/AVCA Division III National poll. Bigford, the 2019 UVC Rookie of the Year, was second in the league and 15th nationally with 4.00 kills per set and 17th in Division III with 4.58 points per set.
Cerqua, an NVA/AVCA All-North Region selection, earned his second Empire 8 Libero/Defensive Player of the Year honor on March 31. Cerqua, a junior, was fourth nationally with 3.15 digs per set. On Jan. 25, Cerqua recorded a Division III national match-high 33 digs in a five-set win over Wentworth Institute of Technology. Cerqua compiled at least 10 digs in 11 different matches this season.
