Hartwick Football Trio Selected to National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society

The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame announced its 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society on April 15, with Hartwick senior captains Stephen Junjulas (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane), Rusty Virkler (Apalachin, NY/Vestal), and Dylan Williams Bachman (Homer, NY/Homer) earning membership.
           
The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised annually of seniors from all college divisions who have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher throughout their college careers. A total of 1,451 players from 365 schools qualified as the society celebrates its 14th year.
           
Junjulas, a defensive back, made 33 tackles this past fall and his six passes defended ranked first on the team. He registered two interceptions and one fumble recovery on the year and recorded a season-best seven tackles in a game against St. Lawrence. Junjulas wrapped up his career ranked sixth in Hartwick history in passes defended with 18.
           
Virkler, a wide receiver and punter for the Hawks, was named to the 2019 Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year Team. He led the Hawks in receptions with 37, finished with 338 receiving yards, to go along with one touchdown. Virkler had a pair of kicks of 50 yards or more with eight punts inside the opponents' 20 yard-line. He closed out his 'Wick career sixth in the record books in punting yards with 3,067.
           
Williams-Bachman, a linebacker, led the Hawks in tackles in the fall with 48. He had four tackles for loss, two sacks, and recorded at least four hits in seven games. Williams-Bachman earned a season-best eight hits with a sack against Brockport and he ended his career with 132 tackles in a 'Wick uniform.
