Various Academic Honors/Academic or Athletic Clubs: Seven-time Dean’s list recipient, President of Beta Beta Beta Honor Society, Tribeta research grant recipient, and 2019 CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America.

What Type of Community Service Have You Done: I have volunteered at St. Joe’s House of Hospitality, which is a homeless shelter in Rochester. I volunteered there a couple times my junior year and then much more my senior year when I did not have baseball until the semester ended due to COVID-19. We would typically make meals or do outreach in which we would offer some supplies to the homeless population in the community. We tried to form a connection with the people we saw by simply talking to them each week. I have also volunteered for JDRF of Rochester, Ronald McDonald House, and helped organize a group to complete a painting project at St. Joe’s Neighborhood Clinic.

Plans After Graduation: I would like to either pursue professional baseball over the summer or attend medical school at the University of Buffalo.

What Do You See Yourself Doing in 5 Years:
I would like to be either at the end of medical school or entering my residency.

What Do You See Yourself Doing in 10-15 Years/What is Your Ultimate Professional Goal: My goal is to become an endocrinologist and treat patients with Type 1 diabetes, hormone issues, or growth issues. However, I ultimately want to be a physician who can have a positive impact on my patients regardless of the specialty.

Any Interesting or Exciting Internships You Have Done or Are Currently Working On: I have done undergraduate lab research in the biology department for the last two years. The research is focused on the endocrine disrupting effects of bisphenols (class of chemicals in plastics) on fruit fly larvae. I initially studied the bisphenols as a cause of obesity, but now I look into how the bisphenols affect insulin metabolism in the larvae.

How Has Playing Collegiately and in the Empire 8 Prepared You For Life After College: Playing college baseball has helped me to be a more well rounded individual. I have learned to balance my passions in life by giving a strong effort in athletics and academics while in college. It has also allowed me to fail and to become better from these failures.

Favorite Athletic Memory from Your Time in College: There no one specific memory, I have just loved being a part of this team for the past four years. I am grateful for all of my past and current teammates.

Biggest On-Campus Mentor:
It is hard to pick just one. My head coach Brandon Potter, my research mentor, Dr. Edward Freeman, and other professors have helped me greatly over the years.

What Have You Learned About Yourself in College:
I I have learned that I am able to grow as a person and balance my passions in life. I had tunnel vision for academics during freshman year. This is good, but I have learned that it is better to be a dynamic person with several interests and passions.

What Type of Leader Are You:
I hope that I am a leader by example. I do not feel it necessary to constantly assert yourself as a leader. I try to be the best person I can be, while helping others when I can in hopes that it has a positive impact on others.

One Thing Most People Do Not Know About You: I have watched the entire series of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-air”. It was my favorite show growing up.

Advice for Freshmen Teammates or Student-Athletes:
It is cliche, but do not take the game you play or your teammates for granted. Even when it is stressful and school work is piling up, be thankful that you are there. As this pandemic has shown us, we really do not know when our last game will be. So, have fun, it is a game after all.
