The Empire 8 conference along with its member institutions in partnership with the NCAA wants to break the stigma surrounding conversation regarding mental health. The week of May 4-8 represents mental health awareness week in Division III as the month of May is Mental health Awareness month.
On Jan. 31-Feb. 1, a group of student-athletes from all eight Empire 8 institutions attended the 2020 Empire 8 Student-Athlete Leadership Summit, which focused on mental health. The league also produced a "Break The Stigma" video, which focuses on mental health awareness.
Student-athletes no longer need to suffer in silence. Below are a series of helpful links and strategies that can be used to create a dialogue and communicate the benefits of normalizing mental health.
