A total of 57 student-athletes from six Empire 8 institutions were named Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athletes for the 2020-21 season. In addition, Elmira College and Houghton College earned Team GPA honors.
Over 8,800 student-athletes were named 2021 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, the highest total in Association history. NCAA Division III led the way with 2,375 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2020-21.
Keuka College led all Empire 8 programs with 15 student-athletes honored, while Houghton had 12 players earn the prestigious academic award. Alfred University and Elmira each had 10 student-athletes honored, while Utica College (7) and Russell Sage (3) had individual representation.
Elmira and Houghton were among 127 Division III teams honored. The Soaring Eagles posted a team GPA of 3.51, while Houghton was right behind at 3.47.
The team rankings and individual honors were submitted by member head coaches and recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association’s membership categories.
