The 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Regionals are set for Saturday, Nov. 13. The Empire 8 will have six institutions competing at the Niagara Regional, and Russell Sage College competing at the Mideast Regional. The men’s races will begin at 11 a.m., with the women’s races following at 12 p.m.
The Niagara Regional is being held at the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, NY, hosted by SUNY Geneseo, while the Mideast Regional will be held at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, CT, hosted by Connecticut College.
A total of 10 teams (one per regional) will automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20. There will be 22 at-large teams selected by a committee that will be announced on Nov. 14.
A total of 70 individuals will automatically qualify for the national championship. The top-seven runners not from a qualifying team will be determined the top-seven qualifiers per region. Those qualifiers will also be confirmed and announced on Nov. 14.
The Nazareth men’s program won its second straight E8 title on Oct. 30. The top-five finishing teams at the conference championship were: 1. Nazareth (32), 2. St. John Fisher (38), 3. Houghton (58), 4. Alfred (143) in addition to 5. Hartwick (158) and 5. Utica (158). St. John Fisher’s Grant Stokoe won his second straight Empire 8 individual crown over the 8,000-meter course..
The St. John Fisher women’s program won its second straight Empire 8 title on Oct. 30. The top-five finishing teams at the conference championship were: 1. St. John Fisher (30), 2. Nazareth (61), 3. Houghton (75), 4. Russell Sage (105) in addition to 5. Utica (156) and 5. Alfred (156). St. John Fisher’s Riley Corey won the 6,000-meter title for the second straight season.
