For the second time in her storied career, Bre Socker of the St. John Fisher College field hockey program was named a 2021 Second Team All-American as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
Socker, the Empire 8's all-time leading scorer, earned her second NFHCA All-American honor. The Liverpool, NY native, who was named a Third-Team All-American by the NFHCA in 2019, earned a plethora of accolades this season after being named First-Team All-Region late last month.
Socker, who was also named First-Team All-Conference by the Empire 8 in November, earned her second straight Empire 8 Player of the Year honor in 2021 after leading the conference in points with 46 over 20 games played.
One of just a handful of players from across the country to be selected to play in the Division III Senior Game this season, Socker ranked first among all players in the conference with 140 shots and was second in the league in goals (18) and game-winning goals with four to her credit. The forward proved to be one of the Empire 8's most accomplished passers with 10 assists on her ledger – good for the fifth-most in the conference this season.
Now a four-time All-Region honoree and a five-time First-Team All-Empire 8 selection, Socker, who was named the Empire 8 Championship's Most Valuable Player, is the league's all-time leader in points and goals. The graduate student, who was also voted as the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year in 2017, is also Fisher's all-time leader with 95 goals, 41 assists, 231 career points and 606 total shots over 85 games. Her 95 goals and 231 points are also Empire 8 career scoring records.
During her career, Socker helped lift Fisher to new heights as the Cardinals posted a 63-22 (.741) overall record including a 32-2 mark in league play. With Socker on the field, Fisher earned two Empire 8 Championships and reached the postseason in each of her five seasons on the roster.
