Nazareth College holds a slim lead in the 2021-22 Empire 8 Commissioner’s Cup standings, as the fall standings were announced on December 7. The E8 will post updated Commissioner's Cup standings following the winter sports season and the final standings will be released in May after the completion of the spring sports campaign.

Nazareth and second place St. John Fisher combined to win seven league championships this fall. For the complete E8 Commissioner's Cup standings, please see below.

The Golden Flyers earned a total of 51.75 points from their fall sports teams, with men’s cross country, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s tennis earning league titles, along with runner-up finishes in women’s cross country and women’s volleyball. Nazareth qualified for the E8 postseason tournaments in all five team sports, while finishing in the top half of the standings in all seven of its fall sports.

St. John Fisher College is currently in second place, with a percentage total of 0.844 on the strength of field hockey, women’s volleyball and women’s cross country titles in addition to runner-up finishes in men’s cross country and women’s soccer.  Houghton College is third overall with a percentage total of 0.566 after a runner-up finish in men’s soccer and third place finishes in men’s and women’s cross country. Alfred University is right behind Houghton in fourth with a composite score of 0.5613 on the strength of being the highest scoring Empire 8 institution in football and its best women’s soccer season in program history. Hartwick College rounded out the top five with a percentage total of 0.529, as its women’s tennis team earned E8 runner-up honors and second-place regular season finishes in field hockey and women’s volleyball.

Utica College, Elmira College, Russell Sage College and Keuka College round out the 2021-22 Empire 8 Commissioner’s Cup standings after the fall season.

Commissioner’s Cup points are awarded based on each team's finish in the Empire 8 conference standings at the completion of the regular season and post-season. Points are awarded on a scale dependent upon the number of schools that sponsor the sport (affiliate members are not calculated into the point scale). A team's regular season finish will be added to its post-season finish and divided by two for the final total for that sport.

Teams tied for a position in the regular season standings are ranked based on tiebreaker scenarios. The actual number of points earned is then divided by the amount of possible points for each school based on conference-sponsored sports to determine their overall percentage.
