The Empire 8 will expand its postseason tournaments during its return to play for all sports during the 2021 spring season from four to six teams, as voted on by the league’s Athletic Directors.
Postseason season tournaments for the 2021 spring season only will expand to six teams for the following sports: Men’s basketball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball men’s and women’s tennis and women’s volleyball. All five women's basketball, baseball and field hockey teams will also qualify for the Empire 8 Championship Tournament.
Expanded Empire 8 Championships will get underway with women’s tennis from March 30-April 3.

Currently, New York State law prohibits spectators from attending intercollegiate sporting events. Live streams and live statistics will be made available for most, if not all Empire 8 championship events.
