After serving as St. John Fisher College's associate director of athletics and senior woman administrator for over two decades, Jill McCabe has been named the next director of athletics and assistant vice president at Marymount University. Her tenure will begin on April 7, 2021.

McCabe was hired at Fisher in 2000 and has played an integral part in the growth of the athletic department. At the time of her hiring, Fisher had 13 varsity sports and roughly 350 student-athletes. Today, the College boasts 25 athletic programs and over 700 athletes.

"We are extremely happy for Jill, but will miss her deeply," added Bob Ward who has been the College's director of athletics since 1987. "Jill has been on this unbelievable journey with us and has had a tremendous impact on our department from numerous fronts including the addition of new programs, scheduling, and more."

During McCabe's tenure at Fisher, the College served as the host for the 2016 Division III Men's Golf Championship where she was the tournament director. She was also instrumental in securing the 2020 Division III Track and Field Championship, which was originally scheduled to be held at Polisseni Track and Field Complex. Additionally, she helped the College win bids to host two future NCAA Championships including the 2023 Track and Field and the 2025 Men's Golf Championships.

Aside from serving on the department's leadership team, McCabe, who is a member of three Hall of Fames including Smithtown High School, the University of Rochester and the United Soccer League, was also the head coach of the women's soccer team for 19 seasons where she helped lead the Cardinals to six appearances in the Empire 8 Championship. Her teams were consistently among the top in the nation academically as they earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award on numerous occasions.

"I embrace the D-III philosophy, where the highest priority is on the quality of the student-athletes' educational experience and successful degree completion," McCabe said. "My mission is to support and develop student-athletes to reach their full potential and prepare them to be tomorrow's leaders."

At Marymount, McCabe will provide strategic and administrative direction and oversight for all intercollegiate staff, programs, facilities and activities. She will collaborate with other University administrative offices in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, fundraising and other resource development activities, as well as ensure compliance with all state, federal, NCAA, Atlantic East Athletic Conference, divisional and University regulations.
