The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2021 Women’s Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team on Tuesday, April 13. Nazareth sophomore guard Ryann Stefaniak was named Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Golden Flyers to their first league title on April 8. Stefaniak averaged 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting 48 percent from the floor in the tournament. She scored 16 points, including three made 4-pointers, nine rebounds, two blocks and two assists in Nazareth’s 67-62 win over Nazareth in the Empire 8 Championship game. Fellow Nazareth standout Jadyn Abrams joined Stefaniak on the All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.5 points, while shooting 53 percent from the field over the two games.
Sam Fischer averaged 15.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 62 percent from the field for runner-up St. John Fisher to earn All-Tournament Team accolades. Karly Welty of Alfred and Meaghan McGwin of Keuka were also named to the All-Tournament Team. Welty scored a career-high 18 points and pulled down eight boards in the E8 Semifinal at St. John Fisher, while McGwin poured in 10 points in Keuka’s semifinal game at Nazareth.
