For the second consecutive week, two members of the St. John Fisher College field hockey team have been recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and Play Safe Turf and Track for their on-field performances last week.
Senior Bre Socker was named the NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week while senior Katelyn Slomba was tabbed as the NFHCA's Defensive Player of the Week as the Cardinals won their second Empire 8 Championship in team history last weekend.
Socker, who was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year on Monday, finished the week with six goals and 12 points.
On Friday, the Liverpool native set a new single-game scoring mark for Fisher as she scored five goals in a win over Nazareth. The forward also became the program's all-time leader in points with 185 overall. Socker would go on to score the game-winning goal in Sunday's title game against Hartwick College.
Slomba, who was named the Empire 8's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, anchored a defensive corps that did not surrender a goal over two games en route to the program's second Empire 8 Championship since 2016.
