Alea Steigerwald Earns Second Straight MVP honor as 2021 Spring Empire 8 Women’s Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team is Announced

The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2021 Spring Women’s Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team on Friday, April 30. Junior outside hitter Alea Steigerwald was named the Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player for the second straight year after leading the Cardinals to their second consecutive league title over the weekend. Steigerwald hit .333 with 14 kills and 12 digs in the four-set win over Alfred in the E8 Semifinal on April 22. She followed that up with a team-best 17 digs and eight kills in the championship match three days later, which Fisher won in four sets over Nazareth. Steigerwald and the Cardinals won their second Empire 8 Championship in program history. She was one of three St. John Fisher student-athletes to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
