Stuart Phair (Canberra, Australia/Trinity Christian School) of the Russell Sage College men’s basketball team was named to the 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men’s Basketball Team. The team, which is selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late May.
Phair, who helped the Gators to their second straight Empire 8 Tournament appearance in 2020-21, finished the year as a 10-game starter, averaging 8.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He also shot an impressive 55 percent from the floor. Phair has 369 career points, 263 rebounds and 64 blocks in three seasons, while shooting 50.2 percent from the floor.
Also a member of the men's golf team at Russell Sage, he finished 20th overall at the 2021 Empire 8 Championship with a two-day score of 175 (89-86) and was named a Sportsman of the Year for his performance.
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
