Cortland senior center Michael Bailey has been chosen to the 2021 Division III Football Academic All-District team for District 3, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early July.

A biology major, Bailey graduated last month. He entered the spring semester with a 3.51 cumulative grade point average.

Bailey, a native of Bedford Hills, NY, was Cortland's starting center in every game of the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The Red Dragons did not play in 2020, and the CoSIDA award for the 2020-21 season was based on his career accomplishments. In 2019, Bailey helped lead the Cortland offense that averaged 425.0 yards of total offense per game. The Red Dragons gave up only seven sacks on 355 total pass plays for a school-record sack rate allowed percentage of 1.97 percent.
