ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Department of Athletics is excited to announce the formal reveal of Pat Thompson Court on Friday, September 10 before women's volleyball takes on Cazenovia.
- 6:00 PM – Reception and refreshments in the Hall Seminar room with Pat Thompson
- 7:00 PM – Unveiling of court followed by a short presentation to honor Thompson in Speidel Gymnasium prior to the game.
- Women's Volleyball vs. Cazenovia to follow.
Thompson, the former Vice President of Athletics, retired from Elmira in December of 2018 following a 43-year career as a coach and administrator at her alma mater. Following graduation, Thompson spent her entire professional career serving the Elmira College community in a variety of roles within athletics.
Thompson was first named Director of Athletics in 1984, a post she held for the next 10 years until she was promoted to Dean in 1994. She was then elevated to Vice President of Athletics in 2000.
In addition to her administrative role, Thompson coached the EC cheerleading program for 23 seasons and guided the Soaring Eagles to their first national championship in any sport when Elmira won the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Nationals in the spring of 2000.
