Houghton Women's Soccer Scores Nine Goals in Win Over Clarks Summit

HOUGHTON, NY– The Houghton College Women's soccer team rolled past Clarks Summit 9-0 in their first win on Burke Field this season. The nine goals by Houghton are the most scored since 2013. 

The Highlanders began thei onslaught from the very beginning of the match, scoring two goals in the first four minutes of the game. Not only would Moriah Steffen and Sierra Dibble find the back of the net in the first half, but so would Sarah Potocki, Chloe Shaw, Natalie Milne and Sierra Dbble a second time. This offensive efficiency led Houghton to a 6-0 going into the locker rooms for half time. 

Houghton would pick up right where they left off once the second half began, scoring in the 53rd minute off the foot of Anna Kalivoda. Natalie Milne would find the net for the second time of the night, assisted by Reegan Mitchell. Reegan Mitchell would also assist on the last goal of the match would come from Hannah Smith in the 87th minute of the game. 

With the win, the Highlanders rise to 2-1 on the season. The Highlanders will hit the road and play Buffalo State on Tuesday before beginning Empire 8 play the following Saturday against Utica.
