Eight Empire 8 soccer programs (six women's and two men's teams) were named United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award winners to recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2020-21 academic year.
A total of 610 college teams (224 men, 386 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 94 schools who had both their men’s and women’s programs among the recipients. Hartwick and St. John Fisher garnered academic awards for both the men’s and women’s programs. Alfred University had the highest team grade-point average among all E8 women’s programs (3.69), while St. John Fisher enjoyed the top men’s program GPA (3.36).
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches Services Program with a composite grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2020-21 academic year.
