St. John Fisher College and Nazareth College represent the Empire 8 Conference in the final Fall 2021 LEARFIELD Director’s Cup Standings. A total of 177 Division III institutions were represented this fall. Updated standings will be announced after the winter sports season is concluded.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
St. John Fisher is tied for 67th nationally after the fall season, having competed in the 2021 NCAA Division III Championships for women’s volleyball and field hockey, as well as having Riley Corey compete at the women’s cross country championships.
Nazareth is currently tied for 97th in Division III with both the men’s and women’s soccer team having advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Overall, St. John Fisher and Nazareth combined to win seven league titles this fall. The Nazareth women’s tennis team won the 2021 Empire 8 Championship and will compete in the NCAA Championship Tournament in May, 2022.
SUNY Cortland, who competes primarily as a member of the SUNYAC, was the Empire 8 Champion in football.
