HOUGHTON, NY – Sophomore Claire Pullen was one of the five double winners for the Nazareth Women's Tennis team Friday as the Golden Flyers recorded a second consecutive 9-0 win in a road match at Houghton.
Nazareth (6-1 overall, 5-1 Empire 8) also beat Russell Sage by a 9-0 score Thursday.
Pullen teamed with junior Aliya Guzman for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles and then added a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles for Nazareth. Guzman won a 6-3, 6-3 match at No. 1 singles.
Sophomore Lily Bulkeley and freshman Catherine Zak took an 8-3 decision at No. 2 doubles. Zak added a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles while Bulkeley was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 5 singles.
Senior Theresa Hecht was paired with freshman Scarlett Wagner and the duo won an 8-1 decision. Wagner added a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles while junior Katelyn Spath earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles to close out the sweep for Nazareth.
Nazareth will host Medaille Saturday for its third Empire 8 match in as many days. The first serve is set for 1 p.m. on the Annette Shapiro Courts.
