LEXINGTON, KY -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association is proud to announce its 41st annual NCAA Division III All-America Teams for women's volleyball. After a strong senior season, St. John Fisher University middle blocker Sydney French earned Honorable Mention All-American honors.
French has been tremendous this year as an offensive force for the Cardinals. In 88 sets this season, French hit an Empire 8 leading .352 and was second in the conference with 207 kills. She has totaled 239.5 points and added five assists and three aces. Defensively, French tallied 34 digs and 48 total blocks.
In the first round of the NCAA tournament against the University of Scranton, French recorded nine kills on a .269 hitting percentage in three sets. She also tallied one block assists, one dig and 9.5 points which led the Cardinals.
The middle blocker also had a strong conference tournament, contributing with 22 kills in her two Empire 8 Tournament starts. 12 of these kills came in the final against Hartwick College. In the two tournament games, French had two digs and nine block assists. Both digs came against Houghton in the semi-final. The senior also earned the Torchbearer Award, which goes to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating in the finals.
