The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2022 Empire 8 Women’s Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Junior midfielder Grace Lanzetta of Nazareth College was named the Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player after helping lead the Golden Flyers to their 12th E8 title. She anchored a Nazareth defensive unit that did not allow a goal in two postseason games, as the Golden Flyers shutout Russell Sage and Utica. On Thursday, her efforts helped limit Russell Sage to six shots on target, as Nazareth scored two late goals for a 2-0 win in the semifinals. On Saturday, Lanzetta and the Nazareth defense held the potent Utica offense to just four shots on target in the 1-0 victory that secured the Empire 8 Championship. Lanzetta was one of four Nazareth student-athletes to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
