Below are the Empire 8 Players of the Week, released on December 19, 2022, for games played from December 12-December 18. It is the 16th Empire 8 weekly honors release of the 2022-23 season. Sports featured include men’s and women’s basketball.
 
MEN’S BASKETBALL
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Daunte Wilcott, Medaille, So., G, Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep
Wilcott averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 block per game in a 1-1 week for the Mavericks, while shooting 64.3 percent (18-for-28) from the floor.  He opened the week by scoring 23 points against Case Western Reserve on Monday. Wilcott followed that up by scoring a season-high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range in an 85-78 win over Alfred State. He also added four boards, four assists, two blocks and two steals.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Jeremiah Boateng, Hartwick, Fr., F, Springfield, VA/John R. Lewis
Boateng recorded several season-highs, including 16 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in Monday’s contest at Morrisville State. He shot 7-of-15 from the floor and picked up his first double-double. Six of Boateng’s 10 rebounds came on the offensive glass.
 
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Erin Hardick, Medaille, Sr., G, Buffalo, NY/Sacred Heart Academy
Hardick led the Mavericks by scoring 14 points to go along with four rebounds, four assists and two steals in Saturday’s overtime thriller versus Alfred State. It is Hardick’s second E8 weekly accolade of the season.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Morgan Perry, Hartwick, Fr., G/F, Otego, NY/Unatego
Perry led all Hartwick scorers with 11 in the Hawks' 59-55 point win over SUNY Morrisville on Monday. The first-year player also pulled down five rebounds, posted three assists, and had one steal in 29 minutes of action.
