DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Utica University football wide receiver Nate Palmer, the 2022 Empire 8 Player of the Year, is set to take part in the eighth annual FCS Bowl in Daytona Beach, Florida at 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 11.
Palmer will wear No. 19 for the National-Blue team that is led by Wittenberg Head Coach, Jim Collins.
The Bowl is a top-six bowl named by NFL scouts and features plenty of NFL scouts, coaches, and more. Last year's bowl had 14 NFL teams, 6 CFL teams, and more than 30 scouts in attendance.
The Game features players who have been on draft boards or scouting partner boards and the game has been attended by the NFL, CFL, AFL, and NFL/CFL agents. The top-20 players selected from this bowl by NFL scouts will be invited to the Tropical Bowl in January. This bowl is the only one which gives the top FCS/DII/DIII players a direct path to play in a top FBS game.
NFL Films records the bowl games and distributes the film to all NFL teams and other sources to try and get the players greater exposure.
This season, Palmer recorded 75 catches, 1291 receiving yards, and 18 receiving touchdowns while his receiving yards and touchdown receptions were the most in a single-season in Pioneer history. Palmer's 120 points recorded this season also rank first all-time in a single-season in program history. His 75 receptions rank third all-time in a single-season and he finished fifth all-time for total touchdowns in a season with 20.
Palmer is also one of 15 semifinalists for the Gagliardi Trophy which is awarded to the best player in NCAA Division III. The four finalists will be announced tomorrow, December 7, at 4 p.m. and will be streamed live on D3football.com's Facebook page.
