St. John Fisher Wins Third Consecutive Empire 8 Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship

St. John Fisher won the 2021-22 Empire 8 Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Utica University on Feb. 25-26. The Cardinals finished with 157 points to win their third consecutive championship and fifth overall in program history. Nazareth was the runner-up with 157 points.
 
Graduate student Kyle Rollins led the way for the Cardinals, winning all three jumping events to earn 2022 Empire 8 Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet honors for the fourth consecutive season. On Friday, Rollins took the long jump with a personal best leap of 7.10 meters and on Saturday, won his fifth straight high jump crown, clearing an Empire 8 Championship meet record 2.09 meters, while annexing the triple jump, leaping 14.23 meters. He was also the 2018 Rookie of the Year.
 
St. John Fisher senior distance runner Andrew Ford was named the 2022 Empire 8 Indoor Track Athlete of the Meet. He won a pair of individual events on Friday, including the mile run in a time of 4:26.25 and 3,000-meters, crossing the finish line in 8:51.40.
 
Nazareth’s Connor McCauslin defended his league title in the 60-meter hurdles. Overall, Nazareth won four events, while Utica and Houghton won two and Alfred, one. The league champion Cardinals took seven events.
