Kaleb Luton and Christopher Perez of Nazareth College, John Coddington of Russell Sage College, Kyle Rollins of St. John Fisher College and Hunter Logan of Utica University earned 2022 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Track and Field All-Region honors.
To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their event in their respective region on the TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a region’s top-3 relay team was selected for the distinction.
Luton, a junior, earned his first All-Region honor after recording the fastest time among all Niagara Region student-athletes in the 60-meter hurdles, 8.13 seconds at the Fastrack National Invitational on Feb. 11. He is set to compete at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the event.
Perez, also a junior, had a top throw of 16.78 meters at the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up on Feb. 18 to earn All-Niagara Region honors with the fourth best effort. It is his first All-Region accolade.
Coddington has enjoyed an excellent season for Russell Sage, becoming the program’s first All-Region performer. Coddington, a junior recorded the second best throw in the shot put (14.75 meters) and fourth-best weight throw performance (15.81 meters) for Russell Sage, who competes in the Mideast Region.
Rollins is the not only a regional standout, but is the No. 1 national seed in the high jump, having cleared 2.20 meters and is the No. 4 seed in the triple jump, with a leap of 14.88 meters in advance of the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship which will take place this weekend. An eight -time All-American during his career, Rollins, a graduate student, is the two-time defending national champion in the high jump, having won the event at the 2019 and 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He will look for his first NCAA Indoor title.
Logan, a sophomore, has made a major impact for Utica after transferring from Herkimer College. This season, he won the Empire 8 Championship and was the runner-up at the All-Atlantic Region meet in the shot put. His top toss of 16.42 meters in the weight throw, accomplished at the Valentine's Invitational hosted by Boston University was the second best in the Niagara Region. He is seeded ninth overall nationally heading into the NCAA Championships this weekend.
