INDIANAPOLIS -- In the closest of races, Nazareth graduate student Taylor Robey finished fifth overall Wednesday in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the  IUPUI Natatorium.

With just two-tenths of a second separating the first five finishers, Robey was clocked in :22.96 seconds to earn All-American honors for the third year in a row. She improved upon her preliminary time of :23.04 seconds. Emory's Taylor Leone won the race in :22.72, followed by Emmie Mirus of Kenyon (:22.77), Alexandra White of Kenyon (:22.92), Caroline Maki of Emory (:22.94) and Robey.

"I was definitely nervous going in, but I had great support from the coaches and the others who were here," Robey said. "I knew that no matter what I was going to come out of the pool as an All-American, so I just wanted to go out and swim a race that I would be proud of."

Robey also was named as an All-American in 2020 and 2021, but the championship meet was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She was attempting to become Nazareth's first national champion since Emily Lesher won the 400-yard individual medley n 2007.

Robey also will be competing in the 200-yard freestyle on Thursday and the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday. Senior diver Allie Norwood competes in the 1-meter event on Thursday and the 3-meter event on Saturday.
