UTICA, NY - Head Men's Basketball Coach Sean Coffey has been named the HoopDirt.com Division III Coach of the Week, as announced by HoopDirt.com on Monday.
This is the eighth season that HoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs. The list of 2022-23 Coach of the Week winners, as well as the list of all-time COY winners can be found following this week's honorees.
The Pioneers went 3-0 last week with wins at No. 19 Nazareth, vs. Elmira and a pivotal Empire 8 win vs. Alfred on Saturday.
Under his direction, the team averaged 76.6 points per game while holding opponents to 64.3 points per game. Utica was able to capture a huge comeback win at No. 19 Nazareth by erasing a double-digit deficit in just three minutes before ultimately winning the game in overtime. Along with Tuesday's win at Nazareth, Utica was able to take full control of the Empire 8 with a 73-59 win against a top-three E8 Alfred team.
As a Coach of the Week selection, Coffey is eligible to receive the
HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.
