Five Empire 8 Institutions Represented in 2022 Fall NACDA Learfield Directors' Cup Standings

Utica University, Hartwick College, Medaille University, Nazareth College and St. John Fisher University represent the Empire 8 Conference in the final Fall 2022 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Standings. A total of 186 Division III institutions were represented this fall. Updated standings will be announced after the winter sports season is concluded.
 
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
 
Utica leads all Empire 8 institutions and is tied for 84th nationally with 53 points, having won its first NCAA Tournament game in football, while advanving to the round of 16. The Pioneers won a program-record 10 games and earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Hartwick, Medaille, Nazareth and St. John Fisher are all tied for 119th nationally after the fall season with 25 points apiece. Hartwick won the E8 title and competed in the , 2022 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships, while Medaille won the Empire 8 men's soccer crown in its first season as a league member and competed in the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championships. Nazareth competed in the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships after winning its second straight league title, while St. John Fisher won its fourth straight E8 women's volleyball crown and was the league's representative at the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championships.
 
Overall, Hartwick was the lone institution to win multiple league titles this fall. The Hartwick women’s tennis team won the 2022 Empire 8 Championship and will compete in the NCAA Championship Tournament in May, 2023.
 
SUNY Cortland, who competes primarily as a member of the SUNYAC, was the Empire 8 Champion in football. The Red Dragons are 23rd overall with 189 points.
