The hosts took an early lead over the Wolves as Keuka opened cold, missing their first five three-point attempts. Keion Brooks opened the scoring for Keuka with a pull-up three and that was followed by a Devin Milton three to cut the Highlander lead to one. Another three by Brooks tied the game at 9-9 five minutes into the game. The Wolves would later take the lead for the first time following a six-point run. The Highlanders regained their lead, but the Wolves continued to battle. Devin Milton cut it to one, 23-22, with a corner three, pushing him over 1,000 points in his career. Following the three, Houghton took a timeout and it worked out for the Highlanders. They scored eight straight to grow their advantage. The Wolves closed the half strong, however, cutting the margin down to three, 35-32, at the half.

Houghton University scored the opening basket, but the Wolves used an 8-0 burst to take a lead. The Wolves found their range from three. Keion Brooks hit another three for the Wolves to push the lead back to four, but the Highlanders answered right back with a three with two minutes left to play. Devin Milton made a jumper. On defense, Jaden Keasey got a block to keep the Highlanders off the board. The Wolves worked the shot clock, but their shot at the buzzer was off. Keasey was there for the Wolves to grab the offensive rebound to retain the possession and run more clock. Will Tehan had the basket for the Wolves with 21 seconds left, making it 72-67. Houghton got a layup with 12 seconds left and fouled with six seconds left. The Wolves missed the front end of a one-and-one giving the Highlanders the ball, but before they could get a shot off, Jaden Keasey stole it back as the Wolves defeated the Highlanders 72-69.
