Empire 8 To Hold Annual Student-Athlete Leadership Summit, February 3-4; Mike Dilbeck to Serve as Keynote Speaker

The Empire 8 Conference is set to hold its annual Student-Athlete Leadership Summit on Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4, 2023, from Woodcliff Hotel and Spa in Fairport, NY. Mike Dilbeck is the keynote speaker for the event.

This year’s Summit is once again focused on bringing together members of the higher education community from around the conference (student-athletes, Administrators, Coaches and Vice-Presidents) in a fun and educational environment away from campus.

A longtime filmmaker and video producer, Dilbeck equips student-athletes and staff with the strengths and actions necessary to make a positive impact on campus and personal issues by showing courageous leadership, honoring the dignity of others, and acting with integrity.

Dilbeck stresses the importance of standing up, stepping in and speaking out based on your values and core commitments to seize an opportunity to act and dramatically change the campus community and allow all of us to make the difference we want to make. He stresses the importance of building others up rather than tearing them down – honoring dignity. He stresses the importance of acting with integrity and honoring your word – no matter what. Dilbeck, who has survived two types of cancer, equips students with easily digestible knowledge and actions to challenge the negative behaviors they see around them every day—and to inspire others to do the same.

“The E8 Student-Athlete Summit is always one of the highlights of the academic and athletic year,” said Joe Venniro, Empire 8 Associate Commissioner. “Mike is a dynamic speaker who will provide meaningful tools for our student-athlete leaders and administrators, who will be able to take these conversations back to their teams, campuses and SAAC departments. It is always a special time to be able to bring everyone from all of our member institutions together for an unforgettable two-day event.”

In addition to the presentations, the student-athletes will also participate in a series of table topics, Minute-to-Win-it challenge, discuss various Student-Athlete Advisory Initiatives and each school will be making their donation of Pop Tabs to the Ronald McDonald House.
