Taylor Albrecht is in her fifth season as a member of the Elmira College women's basketball team and third year as a captain in 2022-23. Albrecht has appeared in 85 career games for the Soaring Eagles and is averaging 6.3 points and 4.3 boards per contest. In 2021-22, Albrecht started all 25 games, averaging 11.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.3 rebounds per game.

A native of Pleasant Valley, NY, Albrecht is a nursing and human services major. She is Fall 2020 Empire 8 President's List selection for academic excellence, 2019-20 Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year and a member of Elmira's nursing club,

Various Academic Honors/Academic or Athletic Clubs: 2019-2020 Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year, Empire 8 Presidents List (Fall 2020). I am also part of the nursing club on campus.
 
When Did You Become a Captain? How Long Have You Served in That Role? I became a captain in 2020-21 during my junior year. This is my third season as a leader.
 
What Are Your Duties as Team Captain? Keep the team organized with events and community service, lead group workouts when necessary, and keep morale high.
 
What Type of Leader Are You? I feel that I am a visual and vocal leader.

What Qualities Do You Think a Team Leader Should Have? A team leader should have patience, be trustworthy for their teammates, they should also be honest and outgoing. They should also be committed to their team have a positive attitude, be respectful and always show effort.
 
Any Interesting or Exciting Internships You Have Done or Are Currently Working On? I worked as a nurse at Westchester Medical Center over the summer for an internship.

Plans After Graduation: I hope to start my nursing career in an Intensive Care Unit setting.

What Do You See Yourself Doing in 10-15 Years/What is Your Ultimate Professional Goal: In 10 years I can see myself travelling as a nurse or working in the Neonatal ICU. My ultimate professional goal is to be able to teach new nurses and student nurses in a hospital setting.

How Has Playing Collegiately and in the Empire 8 Prepared You for Life After College: It has taught me to deal with and learn from people with different backgrounds as well as learning time management well.

Favorite Athletic Memory from Your Time in College: My favorite athletic memory came last season, when I scored a career-high 24 points against Cazenovia. My teammates helped me earn this and were all super excited for me.

Greatest Mentors: Robyn Torgalski and Kathy Hickman.

What Have You Learned About Yourself from Being a Captain: I learned that I can make a positive impact on many people on and off the court. I learned that being a captain isn’t just a two- or three-hour title, it is an all-day title.

One Thing Most People Do Not Know About You: One thing most people do not know about me is that I am a good cook and that my family owns a farm.

Advice for Younger Teammates/Student-Athletes and Future Captains: Always have fun even at your hardest practices. Make sure you still have time to yourself outside of athletics and academics. Know that there is always room for improvement even if it is your last year.
