SUNY Cortland first-year kick returner
Ravi Dass Jr., was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 17. He becomes the fifth Cortland honoree and sixth overall selection in the Empire 8 this season as part of the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Dass, who was named the Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, returned two punts for 89 yards, including a touchdown, during Cortland's 59-21 win vs. Alfred on Oct. 14. His 26-yard return set up Cortland for a scoring drive from the Alfred 33-yard line after Alfred's first possession. After the Saxons' second possession, Dass returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown - Cortland's first punt return for a TD (excluding blocked punt returns) since 2009.
League play continues for the Empire 8 on Saturday, Oct. 21, as Cortland, who is ranked No. 17 in the D3football.com poll and No. 19 in the AFCA Division III poll heads to face St. John Fisher University at noon. Alfred University hosts Utica University at noon, while SUNY Morrisville hosts SUNY Brockport at 1 p.m.
