Junior forward Emma Cooper of the St. John Fisher field hockey team was named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, Oct. 4 for games played Sept. 25-Oct. 1.
Cooper, who was named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, tallied 11 points on two goals and seven assists in a 2-0 week for the Cardinals this. Last Wednesday, she scored a goal and added two assists in a 6-0 win over E8 foe Keuka. On Saturday, Sept. 30, Cooper scored a goal and handed out an E8 season-high five assists in a win over Roberts Wesleyan. The five assists against the Redhawks were the second-most for a single game in St. John Fisher history.
Cooper has four goals, eight assists and 16 points this season and has 54 career points on 18 goals and 18 assists in 47 career contests.
She is the first E8 player to earn NFHCA weekly accolades since former teammates Bre Socker and Katelyn Slomba were honored on April 28, 2021.
The Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. with a non-conference road contest at SUNY Brockport.
